To Kemaman By bus Using Mersing-Kuantan Road


25.2.2010 Thursday

From Skudai to Kemaman. The bus arrived at around 11.30 PM. This time the bus arrived 1 hour late than it normally supposed to be. After all the passengers were on board, the bus started to move but suddenly made a U turn not far from there. I thought that the bus were heading back to Larkin bus station may be to take the missed passenger but it wasn't. Actually the bus had to change its route from Segamat-Kuantan to Mersing-Kuantan. The passengers were looking at each other. It seemed that they were not quite familiar with road the bus had taken. The road condition is not as good as Segamat-Kuantan road due to so many sharp coners that made the passengers hard to sleep. But this road looks better in terms of its beautiful scenery.We arrived at Kota Tinggi-Teluk Ramunia junction at 1.50 PM. The bus had stopped for quite a while at a stall just after crossing the bridge. Some passengers went to the toilet but some went to buy foods and drinks. We continued the journey heading towards Pekan.We arrived there at around 3.50 AM. From Pekan to Kuantan, the journey became even better due to not many vehicles on the road.We finally arrived Kuantan at sharp 5.30 AM.After Kuantan, the bus was heading towards kemaman using Pelabuhan Kuantan Road.This time I have decided to stay at Masjid Sultan Ahmad in Chukai while waiting for subuh prayer.After that, I took a rest for quite a while. I felt quite hungry and tried to eat whatever I have.I didn't see any nasi lemak's stall at that time. Here,Friday is a public holiday.

In Kemaman itself there are many budget hotels available for you to choose. My favourite is hotel shafura and hotel marjan.

Learning.What is it?

Learning is a process that never have its end.It can be formal or informal. We started to learn something new either from our parents, friends or from other sources. Actually learning process has already been started since we were in our mother's womb. After we were born, we learn by imitating what our parents or siblings do. Our personality will also be influenced by surroundings or environment where we lived in. Peers also contributed to our behavior. Have you ever heard about "we are who's our friend". Believe it or not our personality has been formed to about 60-70% when we are about 13 years old of age. That is why it is so difficult to change our personality as we growing older and older. There's not much we can do to change it.

If I wish to reduce my weight.What should I do? There are two options:
1.Reduce your calorie intake by eating a plate of white rice instead of two at night.
2.Do a regular exercise so that you have a deficit in calorie

Diabetes

Kencing manis atau diabetes merupakan penyakit yang berpunca daripada tabiat makan yang berlebihan dan ada juga yang diwarisi secara genetik.Perangkaan terkini menunjukkan ada lebih kurang 1.2 juta pengidap di seluruh negara. Sudah tentu perangkaan ini menjadi sesuatu yang patut diberi perhatian serius oleh semua pihak. Angka ini dijangka meningkat menjadi 5 juta pada tahun 2020.Ia menjadi punca kepada beberapa penyakit berbahaya antaranya penyakit jantung, kegagalan buah pinggang dan sebagainya. Sebenarnya kencing manis terlebih dahulu sudah dihidapi seseorang tanpa menyedarinya sehingga ia menunjukkan tanda-tanda yang jelas atau selepas diagnosis oleh doktor.Selain daripada pengambilan gula yang berlebihan dalam makanan dan minuman, kencing manis juga turut disumbangkan oleh pengambilan makanan berkarbohidrat tinggi seperti nasi putih, roti putih dan seangkatan dengannya ataupun yang mempunyai indeks glasemik yang tiggi (GI). Bila mengambil secara berlebihan, paras gula dalam darah akan meningkat secara mendadak dan ini memaksa pankreas mengeluarkan insulin dengan banyaknya untuk menukar gula kepada tenaga untuk digunakan oleh tubuh sehingga sampai pada satu tahap dimana seseorang mengalami insulin resistant. Pada peringkat ini ia dipanggil pre-clinical diabetes. Insulin resistant pada peringkat ini masih boleh di reverse.Jika tiada usaha mengawal pemakanan pada tahap ini seseorang akan mengalami " full-blown diabetes" atau "full time diabetes" yang akan bergantung seumur hidup kepada ubat-ubatan.Ramai yang tidak menyedari yang mereka sudah ada diabetes peringkat awal. Antara ujian yang boleh dilakukan adalah ujian "blood glucose", ujian darah untuk melihat nisbah triglycerides kepada HDL(kolesterol baik). Nisbah normal adalah tidak melebihi 2.0. Satu lagi ukurlilit pinggang perlu berada di bawah 35" bagi wanita atau 38" bagi lelaki dan indeks BMI perlu normal (di bawah 24).

Diabetes is a disease caused by excessive eating habits or can be inherited genetically.Statistic shows that there are more than 1.2 million patients have suffered in Malaysia itself. Obviously, these statistics should be a serious concern by all parties. This figure is expected to increase to 5 million in 2020.It has contributed significantly to several diseases including heart disease, kidney failure and so on. In fact, one already suffered diabetes without realizing it until it showed the symptons or after being diagnosed by a physician. Despite of excessive sugar intake in food and beverage, diabetes was also attributed to higher food intake of carbohydrate like white rice, bread or food with high glycemic index (GI). When taken in excess, blood sugar levels will rise dramatically, and this forces the pancreas to produce more insulin to change sugar into energy for use by the body to reach a level at which a person had insulin resistant. At this stage it is called pre-clinical diabetes. Insulin resistant at this stage still can be reversed.If no effort to control the diet at this point someone will have "full-blown diabetes" or "full-time diabetic" who will rely on a lifetime of medication.Many of us do not realize that we already reached early stage diabetes. Among the tests that we can do is to test our blood glucose, blood tests to look at the ratio of triglycerides to HDL (good cholesterol). Normal ratio should not exceed 2.0. our waist must be under 38 "for women or 40" for men and the BMI index is below 24

Weight Gain or Weight Loss?

A frequently asked question. Why is it difficult to reduce my weight?
Answer: May be you have taken more calories than is needed by your body.For instance, you need 2000 calories but through your bad eating habit you actually took 2500 calories.If you didn't use it, this excess of 500 calories might be turned into fat that would be stored underneath of your skin.What you should do is to eat less carbohydrate that has high GI.To burn down 500 calories through an exercise is not easy right? Reschedule your food's menu.The best food combination in terms of calorie intake is 40:30:30 (carbohydrate:protein:fat). Another reason why we gain weight instead of lose weight?

My Driving Experience to Kuala Terengganu

Terengganu is a state located in the east coast of the peninsular of Malaysia.It has many places that can attract many tourists either from local or foreign countries. Here, I am going to share with you guys my fist driving experience to east coast.

First we hit the North South Expressway for about one and half hour before exit at Yong Peng Utara. You can take exit at Yong Peng Selatan but you have to pass through Yong Peng town with many traffic lights but to avoid such a hassle, I prefer to exit at Yong Peng Utara.Just after the toll booth, turn to the left to cruise towards Segamat. Then heading towards Muadzam Shah. We arrived at the PETRONAS fuel station in Muadzam Shah at about 12.30 PM. Ten minutes later we continue back our journey heading towards Gambang. Then hitting the LPT highway for about 43 km before exit at Jabor. To get to Kemaman we were passing through the Cherating Resort. Finally we arrived Kemaman at 2:40 PM. We have opted to spend our night at Shafura Hotel for 3 nights. Then on 13.2.2010 (Saturday) we planned to continue our journey to Kuala Terengganu. The road condition is by far better than Segamat-Kuantan road. Along the road to Kuala Terengganu, we found that there are not many vehicles but there are more vehicles on the opposite direction. We can enjoy the beautiful panorama along the road. We then arrived at floating mosque at around 12:50 PM. We were having our lunch there while waiting for my friend. At 1:40 PM, my friends came and took us to his father-in-law’s house.There, we were welcomed to attend the wedding feast nearby. We have the chance to try out with some kind of foods such as nasi minyak with beef and mutton meat mixed. We also could well see the silat martial presented in conjunction with the feast . There are quite little variation functions there than at my place in Perak or Johor.After attending the wedding ceremony, we decided to go to pasar Payang. At that time, the road was quite congested and it was very hard to park our car. Our intention was to climb up the Bukit Putri, but was already closed at that time.Then, we decided to go to the beach nearby only. After spending there for quite some time, we returned for praying and having dinner at my friend’s father-in-law’s house before returning back to Kemaman at around 9:30 PM . Driving at night is a little difficult for me, especially due to limited vision and glaring problem.After for hours of driving, we then arrived at the hotel at 12:05 AM .We went back to Skudai at 10:40 AM after breakfast and arrived at Skudai at 5:00 PM. Although very tiring, it was my first experience of driving to Kuala Terengganu.

How to get to Cherating From JB or Singapore?




Hai guys, may be you are about to plan your holidays to some places in the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia(Cherating,Kemaman or Kuala Terengganu).

There are two routes how to get there. First:Segamat-Kuantan Road. Second:Kota Tinggi Mersing Road.If you choose to use Segamat-Kuantan you should first hit the PLUS highway and then exit at Yong Peng.From Yong Peng to Segamat the road condition is quite good and the road is rather straight.There are places (extra lane) where you can overtake slower vehicles like lorries and trailers.It takes you about 4 to 5 hours from JB to Kuantan. You can have a stop at Muadzam Shah may be to fuel up your car or to go to toilet.After you reach Gambang you can choose to use the LPT highway.

Second route is Kota Tinggi-Mersing and Mersing-Pekan-Kuantan. This road is better in terms of its beautiful scenery.But the road is not that straight compared to Segamat-Kauanta.You have to drive carefully because there are many sharp corners there. If you opt to use this road do it during daytime. Remember that before you start your journey make sure that your car is in good condition.Never overtaking other vehicles at double line. All in all I would prefer to use the first route for some reasons.

How about accommodation? Some people like to stay in 4 or 5 star hotels. But to some people they just don't mind.
